MarkII Weapons Control System

MarkII WCS

The fighter's axiom of "lose sight, lose the fight" holds true for computer pilots as well as the real fighter jocks. ThrustMaster has taken this to heart and created the WCS II (Weapons Control System Mark II). With the WCS II you keep your eyes focused on the action instead of looking for keys on the keyboard.

The WCS II design is taken from the F-15 throttle handle and, therefore, is designed to be used by the left hand, while the right hand operates the stick. The WCS II has six buttons and a three-way rocker switch placed in strategic locations on the handle. Moving the handle fore and aft provides thrust control. Idle and Afterburner detents (or clicks) are detectable as the throttle handle is moved, providing tactile feedback for enhanced control and awareness.

The WCS II is completely user configurable. Buttons and throttle are programmed to generate keyboard characters, and can simply generate one character per press or exotic combinations like macros, repeating keystrokes, one function on the press and another on the release - just about anything you would need to enhance game play. When any of the ThrustMaster sticks (XL, FCS, PFCS, FLCS) are used with the WCS II, you are also able to program all the functions on the ThrustMaster sticks - making the entire system ready for total control.

The base of the WCS II is 5 1/2" wide by 6 3/4" deep with a total height of 6 1/2". The WCSII comes with a 6' cable installed and has 4 rubber feet to control stability. The WCS II base and handle are made from durable ABS plastic. The shaft is constructed of fiberglass re-enforced ABS plastic. There are 6 micro buttons and a 3-way rocker switch. The unit also features 5 LED button indicator lights mounted in the base.

The WCS II is connected in series to the keyboard port & game card port. The keyboard and the stick plug into the WCS II, which then plugs into the game port and keyboard port. The WCS II is designed to connect to a standard IBM 5-pin DIN socket. If your computer has a PS/2 type, 6-pin mini-DIN connector and socket, ThrustMaster will provide you with a set of PS/2 adapters available at no charge.

The WCS II is designed to work with 286/386/486 AT class IBM machines and is NOT COMPATIBLE with XT class machines, Tandy series below 2500, Apple, Macintosh, Amiga, Atari, or Sega. Gateway 2000 Any-Key keyboards must be set on the AT standard in order to work properly.

The WCS II is programmed with ThrustWare® software provided with the WCS II. Users can create configuration files for the game of choice and save it and/or download it to the WCSII. ThrustWare® also includes several files already configured for many of the popular games on the market. Users are strongly urged to take some time and read the manual thoroughly before operating the WCS II. Knowledge is power.

ThrustMaster's ACM Game Card is highly recommended for the best performance of all your ThrustMaster products.
