ACM® Game Card
ThrustMaster recognized long ago that as computer speeds increased, the demands placed
on joystick interface cards (i.e. game cards) would also increase. Higher speeds present
a number of challenges to game cards. One such problem can be heat. Faster computers mean
more heat, and more heat means a greater potential for heat induced drift problems, or
more simply stated, inaccurate joystick readings. Another major problem is the speed of
the computer creating game card values that are too high. When the values generated by your
joystick via the game card are too high they often cannot be understood by the game
software.
ThrustMaster has addressed both these issues with its ACM Game Card. Manufactured to
precise tolerances and specifications, the ACM Game Card scoffs at heat build-up. When it
comes to speed issues, the capability of manually adjusting the card's speed to match the
computers eliminates any potential problems. Hands down, the ThrustMaster ACM Game Card
is the most effective game card on the market.
The last challenge faced by joystick owners is actually unrelated to computer speeds, but
has still been foreseen by ThrustMaster. With the tremendous growth and popularity of
multiple button/switch joysticks (i.e. more than two buttons) the need for a game card that
can process the additional inputs is needed. ThrustMaster supported this need very early
on. However, what ThrustMaster recognized, and others have not, is the need to use two
multi-button joysticks at once. One example is sports games. As sports games become more
and more prevalent and complex, there is a greater desire to use multi-button joysticks,
and play head-to-head against another multi-button stick. This can only be achieved with
ThrustMaster's ACM game card.
