Formula T1

The T1 is one of ThrustMaster's most popular products and mechanically the most complex. Comprised of two separate units the T1 has high tension springs, gear driven pots and a custom made bungee cord that operates on a pivoting yoke system. The Formula T1 really adds that necessary dimension to all racing simulators.

Here are a few helpful hints to keep you up and running when ordering parts from ThrustMaster.

1. Before taking anything apart make sure that you can get it back together again.

2. If you are doing some repair work that requires the temporary removal of wires, take the time to note their location before de-soldering.

3. When contacting the Service Department make sure that you know your date of purchase. This will help the service representative identify the model of your T1.

4. The first T1 came out as a "Limited Edition" model, this unit was an all metal, console and pedal unit. We then moved on to the current version, which has the rounded off steering console and a durable plastic cover for the pedal unit. If you have a broken spring in the "Limited Edition" model you will need to drill out the rivets that attach the top pedal cover to the bottom plate, this will require a 1/8" drill bit. The rivets are very soft so this should be a breeze. Next just follow the instructions provided in the tune up kit that you ordered. If you have the model with the plastic cover, all will need to do to get the pedal cover off is remove the screws.

5. A hint for those of you who have replaced numerous springs in the past, we suggest putting a small block about 1" thick under the gas and brake pedal. By doing this you will limit the travel on the pedal and reduce the strain on the spring.

6. One thing we have found here at the Service Department is that most small four legged creatures seem to be rather fond of the black cord that runs from the pedal unit. Make sure that your Dog, Cat, Rabbit, Ferret, Lizard, or rare Orange- Ring Tailed Lemur is not having it's lunch while you rocket around the Milwaukee speedway.
