ThrustMaster Rudder Controls are one of our oldest and best products to date, made out of aircraft type aluminum and heavy duty ABS plastic, the RCS should really stand the test of time.
Here are a few helpful hints to keep you up and running when ordering parts from ThrustMaster.
1. Before taking anything apart, make sure that you can get it back together again.
2. If you are doing some repair work that requires the temporary removal of wires, take the time to note their location before de-soldering.
3. When contacting the make sure that you know your date of purchase, this will help the service representative identify the model of your RCS.
4. As with the Formula T1 pedal units, the RCS sits on the floor, take a few minutes every month and clean the dust and carpet hair off the skid plates. You should also make sure that the plastic pot cover is firmly attached to the bottom of the RCS, this helps prevent dust from entering the potentiometer and decreasing it's life. You should also make sure that the cord is routed so that it stays out from under the upper pivoting system, try a little electricians tape to make sure the cord stays put.
5. In the unlikely event you need to replace the spring, use extreme caution when re-installing the replacement spring, as it is under tension and could possibly snap one of your fingers if you're not careful.
6. If you get into a jam during a repair STOP what you are doing and call or the Service department.
