FCS Mark II, Macintosh? FCS

The FCS is one of ThrustMaster's most reliable units to date and should provide hours of trouble free use. However parts may fail from time to time and here are a few Helpful Hints to get you up and running when ordering parts from ThrustMaster.

1. Before taking anything apart make sure that you can get it back together again.

2. If you are doing some repair work that requires the temporary removal of wires take the time to note their location before de-soldering.

3. Do not attempt to remove the neoprene handle inserts on the FCS Mark II as this is nearly impossible to do without destroying the grips. If you are experiencing a problem with a button or with the 4-way hat please call or E-mail our service department and they will solve your problem.

4. For those of you using the FCS Mark II 4-way hat in DESCENT and your hat is failing, we strongly recommend adding to your ThrustMaster inventory the XL Action Controller by ThrustMaster. The XL Action Controller was designed for games such as Descent, Doom, Heretic, Dark Forces ETC... , the FCS Mark II was made for flight sims where you are using the hat about 1/4 of the time. If you must use the FCS Mark II with these games here is something you can do to increase the life of the hat.

A. Gently pull the Coolie hat off the shaft of the 4-way switch.

B. Using a pair of wire snips cut off about 1/8" from the end of the four way shaft and then gently push the coolie hat back on. This should make the hat sit down lower on the shaft and increase the life of the hat.

5. If you get into a jam during a repair STOP what you are doing and call or E-mail the service department.
