PORTLAND, OR, May 11 -- ThrustMaster, Inc. (Nasdaq: TMSR) the leading manufacturer of interactive controls for PC-based entertainment today announced the forthcoming release of Pro Play Golf - "The Home Course", the first PC-based golf controller available to the market that allows golfers to use their own clubs.
ThrustMaster, recognized for its award-winning controllers for flight and driving simulations, now extends into the golf simulation category by offering a controller unlike anything that currently exists on the market. The product consists of a base platform and electronic controller unit with a series of sensor lights that detect club speed, face angle, club height and direction of follow-through. The separate Swing Analyzer software included with the package processes the data from the electronic unit and then displays the information in a readable graph. The golfer can then practice their game with the simulated golf course Practice Mode software, also included with the package.
"We are pleased with the initial responses we have had from golfers who have used the device," said Steve Aanderud, ThrustMaster's president and chief executive officer. "We anticipate that ThrustMaster will revolutionize yet another key segment in the PC entertainment industry with the release of Pro Play Golf."
With a suggested retail price of $799.95, the Pro Play Golf package includes the base platform and electronic controller unit, golf mats, foam balls and rubber tees, a hanging indoor golf pitching net, PC cable and connectors, the Practice Mode software, and the Swing Analyzer software with Golf Pro Advisor. Pro Play Golf - "The Home Course" will begin shipping July 4, 1995.
