PORTLAND, ORE., April 2, 1996 -- ThrustMaster, Inc. (NASDAQ: TMSR) a leading manufacturer of interactive controls for computer entertainment proudly announced today that General Merrill A. McPeak (Ret), former Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force and member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has been elected to the company's board of directors.
General McPeak is a career fighter pilot with 37 years of service in the U.S. Air Force rising to become Chief of Staff. He headed the Air Force during the Gulf War and during active operations in Somalia, Rwanda and the Caribbean. He was a member of the Air Force aerobatic team, the "Thunderbirds", performing in nearly 200 official air shows. His personal decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross, thirteen Air Medals, the Silver Star, and the Distinguished Service Medals of each of the Service Departments. He has also been decorated by the governments of Bolivia, Chile, Germany, Greece, Honduras, Japan, Pakistan, Portugal, and Uruguay.
Following retirement from active military service, General McPeak has served as an international aerospace consultant and company director of several corporations including ECC International Corp. of Wayne, Pennsylvania and Tektronix, Inc. of Wilsonville, Oregon. He now serves as Chairman of the Aerospace Industrial Association of Oregon and as Trustee of the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry.
